No. 4 - Asking for Light

I turned to the night

But it did not know

It could not explain which way I should go

I peered into the darkness

And asked for a light

But it could not cast one

It stood quiet and quite

A third time I implored it

Which way should I turn

But its vagueness was vast

And its muteness unlearned

Despair was close by me

Till in periphery I saw

Something shine in the distance

Through a crack in the wall

“Come now,” it told me

“There is still time.

Break open the doorway and see what you find.”

And yet I stood there

With an answer received

One I had asked for so desperately

But I need not come any nearer to see

I preferred darkness

For it covered me

So be ware of questions

Asked in the night

Let me here warn you

You will find a light
